On Monday 07 March, 2011, 59 students from Grade 10 headed to Sa Pa for their yearly grade level trip. Part of the trip was to complete work at San Sa Ho Primary School that had been started by 'Helping Hands'. This included distributing the shoes that had been collected in the recent shoe drive and painting the wall that the volunteers from 'Helping Hands' had rendered a few weeks earlier. In addition, the students participated in an art project making hand-printed bags. These bags will be sold at the forthcoming Spring Fair at UNIS and, of course, all profits will go back to the school.
It was a fabulous trip and the Service group did a really excellent job in painting the front of the main school building. perhaps the best moment of the trip, however, was distributing the shoes to the students in the classes at the school. It was a miserable day, raining and cold and this only emphasised the importance of the shoe drive to all concerned.
It was also pleasing to see that the new school gate, funded by UNIS 'Helping Hands' had finally been put in place.
