Our trip to Sapa was productive, informative and fun in many different ways. We were able to fulfill most of our goals for the trip and came back with sufficient information to plan our next step. We visited the Xinh Chai school and inspect it's needs and condition as well as interviewing the students and staff there. It was a learning experience as most of the problems that the kids faced are things that people of our middle class society wouldn't even think of or consider a problem.
What they needed the most from our observation was a toilet as we saw how the children was doing their business near the back of the school where younger kids would come play later on. So from that we have established what we can do with our $2000, building a toilet for the school. Then on the second day we had walk around the villages (2 of them) and observed the daily life of the native people there. This walk is suppose to be giving us an idea of the community in Sapa and if there's anyway for us to help not only the school but the village as well. But in the end we didn't really came up with anything and it just became a nice little hike.
